Pam Payne is a NYC-based video-media artist who performs live video, creates video performance tools,
interactive installations, motion paintings and documentary shorts. Born in Buffalo, NY in 1961 and
raised in the NYC area, her background includes training in fine art and music. She earned a BA in
Printmaking and Psychology from SUNY Potsdam in 1982. A desire to create visual music and hone her
engineering skills brought her to NYU’s Interactive Telecommunications Program where she earned her
Masters Degree in digital and video systems technology in 1989. Shortly afterwards she formed
Brickhaus,
a digital design and production company. Pam's clients range from investment banks to off-the-grid artists'
groups. She also teaches in the NYC area. Her artworks have been shown and she has performed in the US and
internationally, including Mexico and Havana, Cuba. She recently co-produced a two-year series of video/media
events called “Pixel Nation” at the Scott Pfaffman Gallery in NYC. Pam has most recently been awarded a
National Endowment for the Arts grant through the Jefferson Center for the development of a video performance
with poet Nikki Giovanni and jubilee singers, The Paschall Brothers.
